Certification of industrial products and services are issued by certification bodies for commercial purposes or not. It is bordered by the Consumer Code (Articles L 115-27 to L 115-31 and R 115-1 to R 115-12 incorporating the provisions of the Act of 3 June 1994 and the Decree of 30 March 1995)
Certification of the product or service is the activity by which a body separate from the manufacturer, importer, seller, service provider or customer certifies that a product, a service or a combination of products and services is consistent with the characteristics described in a certification or by a standard, as is the case here. The standard is a technical document defining the characteristics that must have a product, a service or a combination of products and services, and arrangements for monitoring compliance with these characteristics. This document, prepared by the interested parties together in consensus under the auspices of the certification body that collects the views of interested parties, is intended to serve as a reference. (Art. L. 115-27. - Consumer Code) The standard defines its own Statement © Scope and includes:
- The characteristics used to describe the products or services that will be checked;
- The limits of possible features required for certification and the methods used to classify these products or services based on them;
- The nature and format of information considered essential and must be brought to the attention of consumers or users;
- Methods of test, measurement, analysis, testing or evaluation used to determine the certified characteristics and, to the extent possible, should refer to existing approved standards;
- The terms of the controls which makes the certification body, and those controls that are committed to make manufacturers, importers and sellers of products or service providers subject to certification;
- If necessary, the commitments made by the manufacturers or suppliers regarding: o installation conditions of products or performance of services certified o the conditions of service and compensation for damages caused to users or consumers the non-compliance of the product or service certified characteristics.
